Limp Bizkit Announce Olympia Date
Nu-metallers to return to Dublin on August 24.
In a good period for nostalgia-driven reunion tours, the band everybody loved to hate (after buying their records in droves, of course) is returning to Dublin for one night only at The Olympia Theatre. The rap-metal outfit Limp Bizkit was formed in Florida in 1994 by vocalist Fred Durst and his friend, bassist Sam Rivers. Rivers' cousin John Otto soon joined on drums, and guitarist Wes Borland completed the original foursome (later supplemented by DJ Lethal). A fruitful friendship with Korn and a string of hit albums followed. Three Dollar Bill Y'All and a spot on MTV’s family values tour helped fuel some hype, but it was Significant Other (and gleefully dumb single Nookie) that pushed them to the stratosphere. Controversy around their riot-encouraging Woodstock set, Durst’s clashes with bandmates, and the departure of lynchpin guitarist Borland dogged both Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water and the aptly-named Results May Vary. Borland is back in the saddle though, and Greatest Hitz helped recapture something of the magic. They’re rolling into the Olympia on August 24, with tickets (on sale from Friday April 23 at 09:00) available from €49.20.
