Theatre celebration to run from June 1 around the city.
Organised by Trinity College Dublin’s acclaimed Players Society, the Dublin Shakespeare Festival is one of the most innovative celebrations of the Bard’s work around. Several locations around the city will host full or partial performances of popular Shakespeare plays and scenes, along with original pieces inspired from his canon. The centrepiece of the event is a specially constructed stage on Trinity College’s front Square, which will see stagings of Romeo and Juliet and Twelfth Night, though an intimate performance of Richard III in the crypt of Christchurch tempts us too. The event will run from June 1 to 11.
